Making and Serving Coffee – Lesson for the Business Owner
I had an interesting weekend. I signed up to join the coffee team in Church and this Sunday I got my first training. I learned that making coffee is not as easy as it looks. I don’t drink coffee and so it was really interesting to learn the makeup of each type of coffee people drink. ( Americano , Caffé Latte, Caffé macchiato, Cafe mocha , Cappuccino, Espresso ) and I also there was training on how to make a good cup of hot chocolate.
The quality and name is in the detail – Quantity of coffee, milk, choco, steam e.t.c. In relation to running a business you would agree with me that everything in business no matter how irrelevant we may consider it, needs that attention to detail even making hot chocolate.
For each trial hot chocolate I made, we needed to get a members approval of quality and they gave their honest opinion. At the end of my training I found out that what I enjoyed most was the serving , smiling and chatting to those who came in for drinks. Oh! and washing up, the part most people dread.
I will be receiving further training until I perfect my coffee serving skills and will continue to have someone watch over me each time I serve, should I forget something or need support.
Now this is church , what about your business or work place…
